Visit Cairns Northern Beachs by Driving

Machans Beach

This is the closest beach to Cairns City, making it easy to commute. Machans Beach is small community suburb with rock formations along the beach, perfect for that afternoon stroll and stop over at O’Shea’s after 3pm or there is a Mayham at Machans for some funky café food and coffee.

Holloways Beach

There are some hidden gems here. Beautiful beach, nice and calm area. There are nice places to eat here such as, Straight on The Beach for some Australian food or if your looking for a nice romantic fancy dinner, there is Code Cairns, it a small cozy restaurant with punchy food and drinks.

Yorkeys Knob

Favorite off leash dog beach at the right-hand side towards the end of the beach, there is everything a family needs for a Sunday morning here. Big playground for the kids and a café close by called hidden Yorkeys for a modern Brunch.

Easy to spend one afternoon here walking along with the family to take in the perfect breeze, the view and if you’re lucky be greeted by a couple of the local horses that like to swim there in the wintertime.

At the other end of the beach, pop into Restaurant 10-06 for decent pizza and pasta along with live music and doggo meals.

Trinity Beach

Ones of the local favorites here, has the perfect amount of beach and dining options. There is good grass areas to relax and sit on the beach along with BBQ picnic areas, which has the perfect amount of shade if you need. Great open beach to walk along.

Jade cosmetics is great here for facials or just some girlie time, hair by boudoir also provides getting your hair done with a view along with some bubbles or tea if you feel like it.

II Chiosco – for great Italian dining

The beach house Trinity – for good vibes and beer

Trinity beach Tavern – great for families, big venue and a great view.

Kewarra Beach

More greenery here for a walk along the beach. There is a hidden gem, Kewarra beach resort has live music nights right on the beach with food trucks, the beach shack nights on Friday and Sunday during peak season is a must try, a real Bali beach vibe.

Clifton Beach

Not too much here except another lovely beach, but a bit quieter here. Their is however a restaurant that has it all here named Coco Mojo’s (I’ve been told the best cocktails).

Palm Cove

The favorite tourist beach lots to choose from here. Nunu’s for fine dining (amazing sashimi), Vivo’s for Italian, or your classic Irish pub Palm cove has it all. There is resorts here to stay over night and retreats to do some yoga, get some treatments or hair done. Or simply get a picnic blanket and byo (a lot of the locals do).

Don’t forget nunu’s ice cream for dessert too, if you’re not too full of eating everywhere else.

Overall, any of these beaches are great for BBQ’s, picnics or walks along the beach with the reward of beer, wine and chippies at the end.

Tips

Do not swim at any of the beaches, please follow the local laws and regulations.

There is netted areas which are patrolled by life guards which are safe to swim if they say so.
